Living in New Jersey is a lot like being the unnoticed step brother. New York City is across the river, literally within site ( I stare at the sky line all day long) and its only about a 10 minute Path Train ride into the city. You would think that being so close to the greatest city in the world would make more people pretty jealous, but when you say New Jersey to anyone, you get the, “well it was nice talking to you second class citizen” look, and the conversation quickly ends. The same is true for the NJ surf scene. Many people think that the Jersey shores are just for steroids, hair gel, fake boobs and accents, but if they looked a little deeper, they would see something truly inspiring and jaw dropping. The scene in NJ is one of the best on the East Coast, and the dudes who brave the cold temperatures, snow, and wind are determined to be recognized. My 2 good friends, Frank and Ryan, both NJ surfers and owners of a sick clothing company GraveYard Atlantic(who we will feature soon when their website is finished), turned me onto this trailer. As much as I am ready to stretch my wings, I’ll never turn my back on NJ, and I love it when I get the chance to see people rep this area to the fullest, making everyone who ever said a bad thing about it wish they could take it back.

Dark Fall is Alex DePhillipo’s first high definition surf film and he follows New Jersey’s best surfers as they tackle some of the best surf right in their own back yard as well as remote locations across the globe. This film gives a look into the lifestyle of a cold water surfer as well as the most prestigious time for a New Jersey surfer, the Fall.
