The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Trailer Leak
31 May 2011, written by Riz 0 CommentsOn Saturday, a leaked trailer for the David Fincher-directed remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was posted to YouTube and quickly started bouncing around the Internet. The hyperkinetic minute-and-a-half clip—set to a propulsive, industrial cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” by Trent Reznor and Karen O—was enough to get this Millennium trilogy fan stoked for the film’s release in December. The YouTube video appears to have been shot surreptitiously in a movie theater, and when it was first released viewers figured it had been shot in Europe, where the red-band trailer started screening last week.

Gnarly NYC Movie Map
13 May 2011, written by Riz 0 CommentsIf you live in NYC, the chances that you have seen a movie star, or a film getting made are high. We love our movies, and this map is the perfect creation for any New Yorker. Bernie Hou of Alien Loves Predator, has spent the last five months cramming 91 movie references onto one awesome movie map of New York.
Pretty sweet, right? Even better, you can get a copy of it for yourself. The first person to e-mail the 91 movies in the poster, in order, to Hou will get a free copy of the poster (as well three random runner-ups). Just make sure you notice that the flickr version of the poster numbers each reference! Of course, if you don’t feel like doing all that work you can always buy an 18″x24″ print of the map for $16. But where is the fun in that?
Commons White House Poem
12 May 2011, written by Riz 0 CommentsThe rapper Common was invited to take part in a White House Poetry event on Wednesday, angering some GOP members who claim the hip-hop artist’s lyrics celebrate violence. Last night’s “Evening of Poetry,” part of Michelle Obama’s White House Music Series, reportedly went smoothly, showcasing performers like singer Aimee Mann, comedian Steve Martin, and former poets laureate Billy Collins and Rita Dove. But some right-wing idiots criticized Common’s participation in the event, pointing to controversial rhymes he recited on a 2007 episode of HBO’s “Def Poetry”: “Why they messing with Saddam? / burn a Bush cos’ for peace he push no button / killing over oil and grease / no weapons of destruction,” Im not too much of a fan of Commons newer stuff, but Ill give him credit for this. Amazing poem and a great performance. Some people really have a problem with this, but I would still love to see the reaction if Weezy got invited to the White House.
Did Budweiser Make a Dont Ask Dont Tell Commercial?
03 May 2011, written by Riz 0 CommentsBudweiser released a new military-themed ad on Tuesday, and some are speculating that it is aimed at the gay community.
The ad which is viewer-restricted on YouTube, shows a soldier calling a man and saying, “it’s me. I’m coming home.” It then shows a split screen, with the soldier getting ready to go home and the man preparing a party for him. At the end of the ad, the man is at the front of a group of people welcoming the soldier home, and the two hug.
Has Budweiser essentially crafted the first-ever post-Don’t Ask Don’t Tell gay military ad? Only Bud knows for sure, but as you rewatch this commercial, the more it seems like the soldier and his buddy are a little bit more than just friends.
Epic Meal Time
27 Apr 2011, written by Riz 0 CommentsEpic Meal Time is a YouTube cooking show known for creating extremely high-calorie meals, generally out of meat products and including alcohol and a ton of bacon. It debuted in October 2010, and since then has started to release an episode every Tuesday. It is hosted by Harley Morenstein and a group of his friends. Watching the show is like watching Jackass in the kitchen and the dialog is hilarious. Being from Canada, the accent on a lot of the words just tops it off. Check out their website and their youtube page for more videos.
