Tom Cruise Career Rebirth

09 Jun 2010, written by Riz 0 Comments

We all know Tom Cruise has been way off the deep end for the past few years now. Who knew that turning to Scientology could fuck someones head and career up so badly. After the whole jumping on Oprahs couch bullshit, I think a lot of people really figured he was just some crazy washed up actor, until he played the part of Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder. Ill attach the video because its really just that funny.

This Sunday night at the MTV Movie awards, he revived that character for a few skits, and a dance off with J-Lo. Keep in mind this guy is 47, and he has better skills on the dance floor than I do. Well, thats not actually true, but hes pretty good. Its kind of funny that someone could be so far gone and out of the spot light, and then do a guest roll in a movie and your back on top. For a higher quality video check out WWTDD.

New Eminem Video for “Not Afraid”

07 Jun 2010, written by Riz 0 Comments

I’m really hoping that this next Eminem album doesnt fall flat, because I have a feeling this is going to be the last album he ever makes. Being so engulfed with producing doesnt leave a ton of time to really drop double albums, so this might be the end of the line for Super Man. This video dropped just a few days ago (Friday maybe) and I think its pretty good. It is directed by Rich Lee and the song is Eminems new single“Not Afraid.”

Ray Sell Totes Gats!

07 Jun 2010, written by Riz 0 Comments

Ray Sell has created a collection of vintage collages exploring the status perception and the gun-toting, cowboy-idolizing, tit-ogling American male psyche. Throughout movies, books, and the history of man, carring guns has been the symbol of power and authority. How many little kids do you see running around dressed as cowboys firing off fake guns. No one really ever wanted to be the Indians, because they used shitty sticks with pointy ends. Not shinny desert eagles.

Bring any article of clothing to Leo Kesting Gallery on June 12th, 7-10pm for the closing party and get a custom designed screen-print for cheap by the artist. “Stand Yer Ground,” Ray Sell, May 13 – Jun 13, Leo Kesting Gallery, NYC, check it out. It looks legit!

Manhattanhenge 2010. Sunsets In The Big Apple

07 Jun 2010, written by Riz 0 Comments

Recently moving to NYC has been kind of an eye opener. I grew up around lakes and mountains, where summers basically consisted of board shorts, no shirts, no shoes, floating in lakes, and drinking beers in the sun. Pretty much any normal persons idea of a weekend get away. Now I spend my days fighting through crowds of people in the trenches of over sized buildings, riding the iron horse, and sweating off 10lbs a day underground. Sunsets and great scenery are all a thing of the past, until i found out about Manhattenhenge. Part 1 has passed, but best believe ill be on hand for the second coming.

Homeless Animal Campaign

27 May 2010, written by Riz 0 Comments

These faux gritty street scenes were imagineered by London ad agency WCRS for the UK office of the Born Free Foundation, a wildlife conservation organization to show the effects of many animals being pushed out of their natural habitats.

Born Free launched the press campaign to “highlight the fact that thousands of endangered animals are being forced away from their homes every month by deforestation, human expansion and poaching.” Visually, the campaign is a bit repetitive but I think they were able to get the point across. Maybe show a Panda bear bumming money for change while trying to shake off a mean crack hangover. Maybe not. Who knows.

Bare-Skin Biddies Protest Bear Skin Hats

26 May 2010, written by Riz 0 Comments

At first glace, it looks like those uniforms of the Queen’s Guard are painted on…oh wait, they are! The woman on the left is former Lara Croft video game model Lucy Clarkson, whose chest measures 34DD, which is something we might need to take a closer look at just to make sure. Google Image search her if you want to see her breasts sans paint. Probably NSFW, but whatever, minimize your screen. Clarkson, along with PETA UK campaigners, appeared yesterday on Westminster Bridge to protest the Ministry of Defense’s refusal to switch to synthetic fur for the elite guards’ ceremonial hats. The signs refer to the recent national election which saw David Cameron take over as Prime Minister. Previously, PETA plastered a badly Photoshopped image of a guard wearing a decapitated bear head on the sides of London buses. Shown below. I have to admit, PETA used to really piss me off. Always complaining and jumping to the front of every single issue that had to do with animals. Kids catching lightning bugs? PETA on the scene. Two boys trapping Newts in a river? PETA on the scene. Somehow, as soon as they started making ads like this though, I kind of stopped hating them, and secretly started sending my resume to their ad department.

How Are You So Consistant Nike?

21 May 2010, written by Riz 0 Comments

Nike is the king when it comes to putting together commercials to advertise their new products, but this one really takes the cake. First off, any ad that runs for a solid 3 minutes and if full of excitement deserves a tip of the hat. I love how they slow the camera down to show the future of the great players, or the fall from grace each one invisions based on a mistake. Ronaldo commented on the ad saying, “Every touch you have in a game has the ability to change the entire course of not just those 90 minutes but your entire tournament or season.” He added, “One touch of the ball can be an opportunity to leave your mark on the game and write your own future, or equally a moment missed, that creates a legacy for your opponent with their fans.”

With the world cup coming up right around the corner, this couldnt have dropped at a better time. Check it out and we promise you wont be disapointed. Shout out to our boy Kyle M for finding this gem.

Welcome to Machotaildrop

20 May 2010, written by Riz 0 Comments

When we saw this trailer we thought it had to be fake, but low and behold, this is a real movie. All amateur skateboarder Walter Rhum wants to do is turn pro and ride for the Machotaildrop Co. When he finally gets the invite to the companies island things get way surreal and a bit sinister. Part acid trip, part hilarious commentary, the film is screening this Friday, May 21st at Tribeca Cinemas. Buy your tickets NOW!

Is A Street Art War Brewing In NYC?

20 May 2010, written by Riz 0 Comments

If you have been keeping up with Banksy, you know his art has recently been spotted around the US, and it has finally shown up in NYC. To be honest, thats all we really care about. Detroit? Where? Since Banksy is one of our favorite artists, we tend to follow his moves pretty close, so when his art started getting bombed around NYC, we took instant notice. Earlier in the week, we let you know that Poster Boy had just been sent to the slammer for his subway art, but his street team of followers have taken to repping their leader and letting Banksy know that this is New York, and its their turf. Its going to be interesting to see how this all plays out, but my bet is that this is just the start of something great and something that used to be the stapple of artist competition.
