Paramount Pictures are celebrating their 100th Anniversary, and what better way to celebrate than to revamp your logo.

All studio logos get a little nip and tuck over the years and Paramount is no stranger to that concept. I watched Home Alone the other night, and the Fox logo looks like I drew it, in third grade.

The press release from the studio is below:

“Paramount Pictures today unveiled a new company logo that commemorates the studio’s 100th Anniversary in show business. The new logo can be seen on the new Tom Cruise starrer, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL. The movie will open in IMAX and on other premium large format screens on Friday, December 16th and in theatres everywhere on December 21st.”

“The studio’s first logo, a symbol of a rugged, snow-covered peak from the Wasatch mountain range, was created in 1916. The 100th Anniversary logo was created by Devastudios, Inc.”

“Paramount will use the logo throughout its centennial year in 2012. Beginning in 2013, the wording about the 100th anniversary will be removed from the logo, with the rest of the design remaining in use.”

The Matrix was an amazing movie, lets not even pretend like it wasnt, but seeing this montage makes me a little bit sad. I guess its like they say though, nothing is really original, and everything is a copy in one way or another. I mean, they even tried to say that Inception, the most original movie to come out in the last 10 years was a rip off of a Duck Tails episode from the 90s. Either way, this video can at least remind us that there really isnt anything as cool as a Kung Fu flick.

If you werent lucky enough to experience the Club scene in the 90′s and early 2000′s then you missed out on something really special.

The Church of the Holy Communion in Chelsea is a mall now, but just a decade ago it was a vast, teeming, thumping, Club Kid-infested, glorious hole, which you had to experience to actually believe.

Produced by the club owner’s daughter Jen Gatien, it’s looking to be full of insight on the empire that got a little too big to rule and the man who became the prime, exemplary target of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s ’90s war on drugs and happy times.

Opens September 23.
