I Want That! Richard Branson’s UnderWater Plane.

21 Apr 2010, written by ZootPatrol.com 0 Comments

Richard Branson lives the dream owning an airline, mobile company, record label, island and now space travel company.  His latest toy is something anyone would love to try, it’s an electric submarine that looks more like an underwater airplane.  The submersible is named Necker Nymph and he keeps it at his own private island, Necker Island.  The sub costs 415,000 Euro, (not sure what that is in dollars) and can reach depths of 130ft. The luxury sub has fighter jet technology and is piloted with a joystick. While most subs use ballast to propel subs under the water, the Nymph uses downward ‘lift’ on the wings to fly down.  I did a post on his space travel company last week and the more you read about Branson, the more you feel like an under achieving herb, so don’t feel bad when you do.

New Iphone Video Leak. Apple Employee Leaves New 4G Iphone at Bar..

20 Apr 2010, written by ZootPatrol.com 0 Comments

Being on the forefront of new technology and being allowed to be one of the first to use it would no doubt be awsome.   Unless your the jackass from Apple that leaves the new Iphone 4G at a bar in Redwood City, CA while he had it for testing.  Gray Powell, 27 from Apple reportedly left it at the Gourmet Haus Staudt bar after commenting on

his facebook page using the phone how good German beer is.  The new Iphone is not expected to drop until late June and like everything else Steve Jobs unveil’s it was suppose to be kept under strict secrecy and then let loose at a dazzling public relations event.  In other words, this guy is instantly fired.  I don’t really feel bad though because this dude probably makes bank if he’s working for Apple and can get a new job no problem.  Gizmodo.com reportedly paid the bar $5,000 for the phone and broke the story today.

Commercial Space Travel Closer Than You Think.

07 Apr 2010, written by ZootPatrol.com 0 Comments

As quickly as 3D TV is becoming a reality and we thought it was much farther away, so will be commercial space travel.  By now you have heard about Sir Richard Branson’s next big idea Virgin Galactic.   Back in December they debuted the actual spaceship, the VSS Enterprise.  After that there must be extensive testing done before this thing can actually take passengers to space.  On Mar 22nd the ship completed her first test, the captive carry test to ensure the mothership can carry the spaceship in flight.

The one in the middle is the space ship, the  planes on the outside or mothership carry it up to 60,000 ft where it than rocket propels into sub orbit.  Testing will continue into 2011, but there could be commericial flights in 2012.  Tickets cost 200K, and there are registered space travel agents around the world. Book your trip here http://www.virgingalactic.com/booking/ Spacetravel is definitely worth spending your life savings on.

I Want That! HD Head Cam Videos.

06 Apr 2010, written by ZootPatrol.com 0 Comments

I was reading about this company GoPro which designs HD head cams  for alternative sports.  They have different models for surfing, base jumping, motosports, etc.  Head cams at least with this company are cheaper than I thought they were, only a few hundred bills.  This might be the first edition of “I Want That!” that we all can actually afford.

I definitely want one, at least just for shredding the gnar, everyday life might be fun to see with a head cam in HD too.  Although 8 hours of a computer screen are definitely not as kool as these GoPro demo videos.  Sunset surfing one is real good.

Your Dog Wants That! No More Mr.Brown Eye

01 Apr 2010, written by Riz 0 Comments

I feel like this holds true for cats more than dogs, but I can’t stand them just running around with their butt holes hanging out all over the place. Luckly for me, I dont have that problem because my dog, Machine, has a regular sized tail. The leather cheerio really should be covered up in public, and thanks to the folks at Rear Gear, we dont have to stare at our pets third brown eye directly anymore. Rear Gear is handmade in Portland, OR and offers a cheerful solution to be-rid your favorite pet’s un-manicured back side. I seriously think that all pet owners who have animals with exposed butts should be buying this.

Once a year the watch makers of the world get together in Basel, Switzerland to show off what they are dropping in the new year.  Here are a handful of what was displayed.  I’m not a big watch wearer myself, but I would definitely cop one of these if I could I afford it.

2011 Hennessey Venom GT Is As Bad Ass As Cars Come

30 Mar 2010, written by Revelation 0 Comments

A Lotus Elise with the engine of a Corvette ZR1 (725 hp/741 lb-ft supercharged 6.9 liter V8). Sounds like a recipe for tire-shredding mayhem, right? Well, you’d be correct if Hennessey didn’t also make it’s new 200 mph 2011 Venom GT available with a twin-turbocharged 1,000 hp/900 lb-ft torque OR an orbit-defying 1,200 hp/1,100 lb-ft torque “version”. Yes, this is Hennessey doing what they (he) does best. Pure madness.

HTC And Sprint Unveil The Evo 4G

24 Mar 2010, written by Revelation 0 Comments

Huge-ass screen? Check. Point-and-shoot beating camera? Check. The first Android smartphone to run on a 4G network: priceless? While we’re sure there will be a price to pay for the HTC Evo 4G ($TBA), we also know it’ll be worth paying. Operating on Sprint’s WiMax 4G network, the Evo will offer blazing download speeds, helped along by the 1GHz Snapdragon processor, as well as a 4.3-inch touch screen, an eight megapixel camera with autofocus (and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for those video chat calls), Android 2.1, and the ability to share its 4G connection with up to eight devices over Wi-Fi.

Google TV?

24 Mar 2010, written by ZootPatrol.com 0 Comments

Google already dominates the internet and has an ever increasing territory in mobile, so what’s next?  TV.  Google has tried this route before with a Google Ads platform for TV, but this time they are teaming with Intel and Sony to bring Web into your living room.  Simply put, the technology aims to make it as easy for TV users to navigate Web applications like FaceBook, Twitter and YouTube as it is to change the channel.  This has been tried in the past by other companies but the products have very limited application development.  The key to Google’s vision is that they will be using Android technology and open the TV platform to software developers which will hopefully spark the same creativity that we see now with smartphone applications.  Sony on the other hand has been lacking in the TV game and hopes this will bring them back to the top.  Limited details have been released but I’m sure we will see more to come. You also check out TV Gossip by MTV here for the latest show information.
