Hikakin – Best Beatboxer Ever?

21 Jun 2010, written by Revelation 0 Comments

Hikakin is a Japanese beatboxer, and that’s all I really know because all other information about him including his blog is in Japanese. Although I am fluid in 82 languages, Japanese surprisingly isn’t one of them so sorry I can’t give you this kid’s life story. All you really need to do is watch his videos and take notes on his beatboxing skills. You can check out his youtube page here, were he reiterates that he is a japanese beatboxer, and that’s all, thanks for all the information buddy, your a big help. Typical American asshole on display here thinking everyone in the world should speak English like it’s the only language on Earth.

Dr. Dre And Jay-Z Track Off Detox

17 Jun 2010, written by Revelation 0 Comments

Dr. Dre’s Under Pressure got leaked today, but it is an unfinished and old version. The track has no hook in it, it’s unmixed and unmastered. The word is, that Under Pressure is off Detox. Although it’s not done we are loving how it is looking so far, something to just wet our whistles until the CD actually comes out sometime in 2028. “I want to set the record straight for everybody who’s been waiting to hear my music. The song that’s on the internet is an incomplete song that I’m still working on. When its ready, you’ll be hearing it from me.” – Dr. Dre

Top 5 Instances Of Kanye West Getting Owned

16 Jun 2010, written by Revelation 0 Comments

Now let me start with saying I really like Kanye’s music. He is one of the few minds in hip-hop who is still creative and evolving the music industry. With that said he is a complete douche in all other aspects. I don’t like talking shit about celebs because I would probably be acting the same way if I had millions of dollars and access to every party in the world with no repercussions. But when you act like an ass clown 24/7 and have no respect for anyone else, it’s always fun to see that person get worked in one way or another. We here at Zoot put together 5 times where Kanye has got owned by the competition, from Mos Def to President Obama, enjoy.

5. Swizz Beats Owns Kanye at Hot97 Summer Jam
It was over when Swizzy dropped the “Ruff Ryders Anthem”. It was actually over before it started really. I always liked Kanye beats, but when you put them in New York against Swizz Beatz, that’s the all-time set up of the beginning of getting owned.

Jack Conte is a multi-instrumentalist, song-writer, and filmmaker based in the San Francisco Bay Area who lives off of the sale of MP3s online. Conte formed the band Pomplamoose with his girlfriend Nataly Dawn in Summer 2008. The band’s presence is primarily online, having only performed a handful of live shows. Nevertheless, the collaboration has garnered significant fan support. We’re digging the quirky art-school hipster sounds of Pomplamoose, who not only does some awesome pop music covers like this Michael Jackson classic, but some catchy original tunes too. 2 More Eminem Tracks Featuring Lil Wayne And Rihanna

08 Jun 2010, written by Revelation 0 Comments

So Em has leaked two more songs off his upcoming album and they don’t disappoint once again. With his song with Lil Wayne it seems like they carried over the formula of the song “Drop The World” on Wayne’s album. Lil Wayne kicks it off with a slowed down verse that flows well with the beat to lead up to Eminem’s verse. The song features a sample from the Night at the Roxbury jam Haddaway- What Is Love, which sounds awkward at first but it works. For more information on Lil Wayne go to MTV! The second song with Rihanna I raised an eyebrow on why she was on the song, but when you hear the record you understand why Eminem was quoted as saying “I felt she was the only person who could pull it off.” The song is about being in love to the point of loosing control. If your getting sick of us posting every new joint that comes out by Em get used to it because we aren’t going to stop, sorry. Shout out to our man Woody over at mymorningwood.com for hooking up these tracks first. Also added a new Tim Westwood freestyle with Eminem, Royce da 5’9 and Mr. Porter below.

New Eminem Video for “Not Afraid”

07 Jun 2010, written by Riz 0 Comments

I’m really hoping that this next Eminem album doesnt fall flat, because I have a feeling this is going to be the last album he ever makes. Being so engulfed with producing doesnt leave a ton of time to really drop double albums, so this might be the end of the line for Super Man. This video dropped just a few days ago (Friday maybe) and I think its pretty good. It is directed by Rich Lee and the song is Eminems new single“Not Afraid.”

Hip-Hop’s Biggest Urban Legend Albums

04 Jun 2010, written by Revelation 0 Comments

Hip hop has this nasty trait of announcing albums that will get fans super duper hyped up and then never releasing them. To make matters worse, they will tease you with new release dates and pictures of the artist in the studio (like the picture above with Dr. Dre and Jay-Z) only to get your hopes up before shooting them down and laughing at you like the annoying dog on “Duck Hunt.” Zoot offers you a list of our 11 biggest urban legend albums that we will more than likely never see or hear. Detox anyone?

Black Thought – Masterpiece Theater

The Roots’ rhyme animal and front man announced that he would release a solo album in 2001 titled Masterpiece Theater. Hip Hop heads got really hyped to hear Thought solo – although The Roots’ albums are really Black Thought with The Roots backing him . . . but whatever. The album was scrapped and the remains ended up on Phrenology. Dah well.

Dr. Dre & Ice Cube – Heltah Skeltah

After Dre and Cube made nice after Cube roasted the entire N.W.A. crew on “No Vaseline” many wondered if they’d manage to rekindle the good ol’ days in the 90′s. When it was announced that Dre and Cube were in the studio working on a collaborative album titled Heltah Skeltah, the west coast rejoiced. But just like anything Dr. Dre works on, we waited, and waited, and waited. It’s 2010 and we’re still waiting. We lost.

German Festival For “Dark” Music

02 Jun 2010, written by Revelation 0 Comments

We here at zoot love covering odd and unusual festivals and this one is no exception. Wave-Gotic Treffen, an annual German festival for heavy music and “dark” arts, was held in Leipzig turning the city into “gothic Heaven” for 4 days. About 20,000 attendants dressed in black and with gothic make-up will surely catch your attention, or scare the shit out of you. If I had my way I would hijack a bus full of kids that were on their way to a Justin Beiber concert and drive them right to this place and let them off the bus with a big smile. I would then peel out spraying a massive dust cloud into their faces.
