La Machine is a French based art-tech company which creates living machines that bring large scale robotics and scifi fantasy a little closer to reality. Their latest project descended upon western France this spring. A war of the worlds looking tripod with classical touch of an air balloon look from “Around the World in 80 Days”. Some of their other projects include a 50 ft tall spider named la princess that took over Liverpool, UK in 2008 and 50 ton wooden elephant that walked the streets of Nantes, France in 2005. Wish I could ride of these bad boys to work.

I always wondered what the managers were saying when they argue with umpires. I also dont really understand it. What do they hope to happen? The ump says “shit ya know what? Since you called me a pip squeak pussy, I must have made the wrong call” and just over turn it? This is a deleted scene from the Playing For Peanuts documentary, this is the first time Wally Backman’s tirade, performed while wearing a microphone, has seen the light of day. And it is superb.

The documentary chronicled the first and only season of the South Georgia Peanuts, of the short-lived South Coast League. The umpire could care less really, probably because hes thinking “I dont need this shit, I havent gotten paid in a month”.

Philip Zimbardo, a longtime Stanford University professor, conveys how our individual perspectives of time affect our work, health and well-being. Time influences who we are as a person, how we view relationships and how we act in the world. Zimbardo says people fall into six different “time zones”: Past-Positive ,PastNegative ,PresentFatalism ,PresentHedonism ,Future , and “Transcendtal” Future. I thought this video was great because it is so visual. Its more like a movie and less like a lecture.

Tiger Woods returns to the Masters this week, and there has been a ton of buzz around him for obvious reasons. No one will ever forget the drama that filled the end of 2009 for Tiger, and his many, many affairs. He was dropped by many of his endorsors but Nike stuck with him. I like that from Nike, but Im not to sure how I feel about this new commercial. I dont really think that they need to bring his late father into the mix, with a call from heaven about how its wrong to cheat on your wife. Everyone knows that already, and the text messages that surfaced are proof enough that Tiger isnt the best husband. What do you think of the new commercial?

Old Spice recently has been making commercials that basically say if you’re not rocking the Spice, then you’re not a man. I think they are funny as hell, especially the one where the dude has a horse body. The one with the guy saying ” look at your man, now look at me, again at your man, now at me” and he ends up holding diamonds and being on a boat. This video really went over the top with it, and i have to say, its about time someone did this. I love it!

Scott Pilgrim is a comic book series by Bryan Lee O’Malley, intended to eventually consist of six digest size black-and-white volumes. The series is about 23-year-old Canadian Scott Pilgrim, a slacker, hero, and part-time bassist who is living in Toronto and plays bass guitar in the band “Sex Bob-Omb.” He falls in love with American delivery girl Ramona V. Flowers, but must defeat her seven “evil exes” in order to date her. This film has Michael Cera written all over it. When I first saw the trailer, I was kind of skeptical, but after watching it a few times, I have to admit, Im kind of stoked. This film is set for a July release, so be on the look out of a slew of promotion that will soon be following. As always, you saw it at Zoot Patrol first. No need for applause.

Unless you dont have a TV (I dont), internet, or access to a news paper, then you must know that Tiger Woods is not the golden boy the world thought he was. His sexual escapades have been well documented and he recently just gave his first interview since checking himself into rehab…for sex. Thanks to the dudes at Deadspin, we got a chance to see some of Tigers text messages that he had been sending to his pornstar mistress Joslyn James. One bit of advice while reading these, imagine it as if Tiger himself is saying them. It will make them all that much better.

Sunday night during the Oscars, Jon Favreau released the new Iron Man 2 trailer. There had been a previous trailer out for some time, but this one really gets you jazzed to see the new flick. Robert Downey Jr. is back as Iron Man, with Don Cheadle at his side. Mickey Rourke takes on the roll of the villan, and hollllllly shit, hes going to kill it. Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell will all be supporting characters, and if the trailer is any indication, this is a must see.

After Warsaw, Chicago has the largest Polish population in the world

Warsaw is Poland’s capital, having under 3 million inhabitants, out of which 95% are have Polish origins. However, out of the almost 40 million inhabitants Poland has, there isn’t a single city with a larger population than the one in Chicago
