Artist INSA has finished his Girls on Bikes series, combining the two-wheeled cultural hip of the last few years with some seriously cute girls. Watch them ride in front of INSA’s murals across Los Angeles, London, Ghent and Hong Kong, while pretty much falling out of their clothes.
We at Zoot love fixies, and adore amazingly hot women, so umm, yea. We like this project by INSA.
Like finding a golden tomb under the great pyramid, a previously unheard LL Cool J track was found behind a radiator this weekend. Recorded in 1994 during the “golden era” of rap music, it’s called Year of the Hip Hop and is now being sold in a limited edition vinyl. I need to be honest here. I was never a huge LL fan, but this jam is killing it!
Slice of Spice, the company that is now selling the record tells the backstory of the recording:
“Back in 1994 K-Def was working on some beats out of the B Room in Marly Marl’s House Of Hits when LL Cool J walked in on his session and said “let’s make some tracks together”. Uncle L had always wanted to rhyme on a track using the famous ESG breakbeat ‘UFO’, so he had Def lay it down with some scratches and then went to town with the mic. Both thought they had a sure fire hit on their hands but unfortunately it was never used.”
Footage of several NYPD officers grinding up on dancers that was allegedly shot from this year’s contentious West Indian Day Parade has made its way onto the internet and honestly, I have no problem with this at all.
Was this the smartest thing to do as a police officer, obviously not. Daggering women while on duty in uniform is a good way to lose your badge, but this is a high energy parade and they got caught up in the moment for the greater good.
This new, crafty little montage from Shutterlog combines little clips of people taking photos with their favorite cameras, remixing the 100+ correlating sounds and sights of photographiliacs into a percussion track.
Gus Mantle dug up some classic movie artifacts and digitized them for our viewing pleasure. Mark it ZERO! Smokey looks like hes about to shit himself, but wouldnt you if Walter was flashing a piece in your face?
If you werent lucky enough to experience the Club scene in the 90′s and early 2000′s then you missed out on something really special.
The Church of the Holy Communion in Chelsea is a mall now, but just a decade ago it was a vast, teeming, thumping, Club Kid-infested, glorious hole, which you had to experience to actually believe.
Produced by the club owner’s daughter Jen Gatien, it’s looking to be full of insight on the empire that got a little too big to rule and the man who became the prime, exemplary target of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s ’90s war on drugs and happy times.
Opens September 23.
If there is one group that we love at Zoot its GIRLTALK. If you have never been to one of his shows, then you seriously need to put it on the top of your list. The energy and sound is amazing. I actually got a chance to drink beers with Gregg in AC a few years back, and along with being an amazing musician, hes a super nice guy.
This brings new meaning to the definition of standing behind your product. The boss is a total boss for only flinching a little bit. He also gets major props for his line at the 0:49 second mark. “No penetration!”
