So the other day a picture came out of a cat looking miserable while looking at their birthday cake. Just look at that existential disinterest. Another year passed, and what was accomplished? See how long it takes to realize that your prime has passed, because thoughtful birthday cat has, and he is not happy. So of course the internet took a hold of this image and spawned a bunch remixes as seen below.
This weeks edition focuses on the hopeless optimist sounds of Wes Anderson’s hopelessly optimistic movies. The soundtracks are usually comprised of 60′s folk/punk that really allow you to feel the emotion of the scene. Mostly, good jams for cooking breakfast and trying to feeling good about the day.
The Kinks – This Time Tomorrow (Darjeeling Limited Soundtrack)
The Who – A Quick One While He’s Away (Rushmore Soundtrack)
Here is something you don’t see every day, but boy is it entertaining. The video below is a collection of concert goers receiving a water filled condom thrown at their face, in reverse, in slow motion. I know it’s hard to wrap your brain around that, but it is a lot more entertaining than one would think. I never knew how resilient the face was to a water filled condom, you learn something new every day.
If you want to create some amusing shots then reach into your wallet, take out a crisp note, fold it and give you friends George Washington’s hair or Edward Elgar’s chin. Here is a selection of pictures of people who have done just that, I hope you enjoy.
If someone asked me if the lower 48 states were ever attacked during WWII up until today I would of said no and you probably would to. Earlier today I saw one of those “this day in history” blurts somewhere about 6 Oregon citizens killed by a Japanese Balloon Bomb in 1945. Being a history enthusiast, that sounds lame, I did some digging. The Japanese launched nearly 9,000 of the Fu-Go Weapons as they were called toward the US with only about 300 actually making it, the rest were lost in the Pacific. The ultimate goal was to create forest fires, panic and show the US wasn’t untouchable. They would ride the Jetstream for 3-4 days to make it to the US and between 1944-1945 on a series of weights and timers. Between 1944-1945 there were many sitings reported of the mysterious balloons. One even reportedly landed near the site of the Manhattan Project knocking power out to the nuclear cooling pumps that were helping build the first atomic bomb. The US Gov’t apparently did a good job of covering up, censoring any press coverage of the mysterious events., not wanting Japan to know of the impact. Information was finally released after 6 people died investigating a balloon that crashed in Oregon. The only casualties of a US Mainland attack during WWII.
There could still be balloons lying dormant in the forests and mountains of the West. If your a history nerd you can find some more info on Wikipedia .
David MacDowell is a self-taught artist living in Virginia. He incorporates media culture, and social themes into brilliant and controversial satirical paintings. Working primarily with acrylics on canvas, David is not afraid of tapping into the dark side of American media worship. He tops off celebrity renderings sprinkled with crying babies, candy colored nightmares, and a hilariously acidic sense of humor. Some have called his work a virtual “Disneyland on acid”. By bravely peeling away the veneer of pop culture, he validates the abused underbelly of society with x-ray glasses. With an ever-expanding list of international clientele, David’s work can be found in Atlanta, California, Florida and New York. You can check more of his awesome art at his website found here.

HOLY SHIT! Thats all I have to say after viewing this trailer. Robert Rodriguez’s highly anticipated grindhouse film Machete finally has a release date after nearly 2 years of waiting. The flick stars Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Cheech Marin, Jeff Fahey, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Seagal, Don Johnson, Rose McGowan, Tom Savini and Danny Trejo! Wow, thats a stacked line up. Seriously, Seagal!? I usually dont write with this many explamation points, but I just cant help it today.Hes a quick break down of the movie.
The highly skilled Federale Machete is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he’s about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he’s been set up. He barely survives the sniper’s bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence. If you hire him to take out the bad guys, make sure the bad guys aren’t you!
The movie will be out September 3rd, 2010. Perfect for Labor Day weekend!
It’s always funny when newspapers or news shows on television make mistakes because they are always so serious and professional. So when a faulty headline or a wrong name appears it’s instant gold. Here are some awesome examples of funny headlines and mistakes by the world wide trusted news.
Call me a product of the modern age, but Ive never paid for a porno. Not once. Not even when I was 17 and curious to see what was on that Big Butts 3 DVD being sold at the Pakistanie deli down the street. I stream it, for free, on the internet. Just like a million other people in the world. Why pay 20 bucks for a porno DVD when you can simply go to a free website? This video was made by Director Will Ryder and features many notable adult film stars. I couldnt help but break out laughing when Ron Jeremy makes his cameo. Who would sleep with this guy. At least get a hair cut bro. Do something. I really do feel for the industry when it comes to their material being pirated, but I dont think I have a solution. This is the way that technology is moving, and if I can get Iron Man 2 (not out until this Friday) online right now, what makes Vivid Video think I cant find a copy of their latest sleeze? By the way, Lisa Ann dramatically taking off her glasses in the first segment, ohhh boy. It’s an old and clichéd move, but it always works.
