Behind The Ink: Cartoon Skeleton Structures

01 Mar 2010, written by Revelation 0 Comments

Artist Michael Paulus take a scientific look into the makeup of cartoons in “Character Study”. He has taken a series of cartoon images and mapped out the skeleton structure that lies underneath their skin. Paulus strips the ink from famous characters like Betty Boop, Charlie Brown, and Pikachu and gives us another look at our childhood icons. You can check more of his work at his website found here.

Coney Island Is Coming Back, Big Time

01 Mar 2010, written by Revelation 1 Comments

State-of-the-art new rides including a roller coaster and a pendulum will open this summer at Coney Island to jump-start the resurgence of the famed Brooklyn amusement park, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Tuesday. “Coney Island is coming back, big time,” Bloomberg said at a news conference near the boardwalk where the decades-old Astroland rides were dismantled in 2008. The new rides are being created by Zamperla, the world’s leading manufacturer of mechanical rides, based in Altavilla Vicentina, Italy. Luna Park at Coney Island will open on Memorial Day weekend with 19 rides. Among them will be the Air Race, which sends riders swinging and soaring around a control tower. It will be the ride’s global debut.

Microscopic Images From Inside Your Body

26 Feb 2010, written by Revelation 0 Comments

Get up close and personal with your innards with these 11 amazing 3D-body shots. Almost all of the following images were captured using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), a type of electron microscope that uses a beam of high-energy electrons to scan surfaces of images. The electron beam of the SEM interacts with atoms near or at the surface of the sample to be viewed, resulting in a very high-resolution, 3D-image. Magnification levels range from x 25 (about the same as a hand lens) to about x 250,000. Incredible details of 1 to 5 nm in size can be detected.

1. Red blood cells

They look like little cinnamon candies here, but they’re actually the most common type of blood cell in the human body – red blood cells (RBCs). These biconcave-shaped cells have the tall task of carrying oxygen to our entire body; in women there are about 4 to 5 million RBCs per microliter (cubic millimeter) of blood and about 5 to 6 million in men. People who live at higher altitudes have even more RBCs because of the low oxygen levels in their environment.

2. Split end of human hair

Regular trimmings to your hair and good conditioner should help to prevent this unsightly picture of a split end of a human hair.

What Your Vehicle Really Says About You

26 Feb 2010, written by Revelation 0 Comments

Like it or not, people will formulate opinions and ideas about you based on their initial observations, like how you dress, who you’re with, and what kind of vehicle you drive. You have to be careful, though, because sometimes the message that you think you’re sending isn’t always the one that people receive. Here’s what your car really says about you:

Sports Car

What You Think It Says: There are three kinds of people in this world: old people, pussies, and people who think that speed limits are for old people and pussies. I’m in the latter category. I live on the edge of my seat all the time. I’m an accomplished guy. I’ve been successful in life and I don’t mind showing it off a little bit. Plus, I saw something on the internet that said chicks are instinctively aroused by the sound of a revving engine.

What It Really Says: Small penis + Midlife Crisis = This Guy.

What You Think It Says: I am a completely normal person. I might have a family, but it consists of no more than two children. Sometimes I have friends that I need to take places. Sometimes I go to the grocery store and buy so much bologna and pickles that I can’t fit it all in my trunk. For these reasons, I require the use of a backseat from time to time, so I have chosen to drive a car that gives me the extra passenger/cargo room while still being economical and compact.

What It Really Says: I’m an unremarkable person who lives alone, unless you count my cat, which I do every year on my taxes. I mark myself down as Head of Household, though. Suck it, Mr. Whiskers!

The Most Secluded Houses In The World

26 Feb 2010, written by Revelation 1 Comments

I’m not sure the exact places of each of these houses, but my guess would be Nowhere. It is really serene seeing a single man made house displayed in the middle of nowhere. It would be awesome to live in one of these shacks until you got seriously injured, at that point there is no need to try to rush to the hospital. By the time you hike 50 miles over a mountain and take a wooden canoe across an ocean, I think you will pretty much be dead as a door nail by the time you hit the E.R.

Thought You Would Pay Off That Credit Card? Think Again!

25 Feb 2010, written by Riz 0 Comments

If this picture is a little small, click on it 3 times and it will magnify to the size of a VW bus. Just kidding, but it will be more readable.

What does this all mean for you? Your pretty much fucked unless you can pay large chunks at once. Good luck! Check out the rest of this article here, which includes a brief report on how and why credit card companies are aloud to do this.

Meet Giant George, The World’s Tallest Dog

25 Feb 2010, written by Revelation 2 Comments

Meet George, a 4 year old blue great dane. George consumes 110lbs of food every month, and sleeps alone in his own Queen Size Bed. George looks more like a horse than a dog and I want to put a saddle on this thing and showboat through town with a cowboy hat and stirrups cruising down the main roads. Big George even has his own facebook account and website which you can check out here.(for some reason the site isn’t working but maybe it will be back up later.) Its funny to think of George sitting on a couch checking his facebook messages and writing on people’s wall, but I like to think that’s what he does.

After Warsaw, Chicago has the largest Polish population in the world

Warsaw is Poland’s capital, having under 3 million inhabitants, out of which 95% are have Polish origins. However, out of the almost 40 million inhabitants Poland has, there isn’t a single city with a larger population than the one in Chicago

7 Celebrities That Look Like Aliens

25 Feb 2010, written by Revelation 1 Comments

Joe Jackson

Aliens rule, but being a human and looking like an alien does not rule. Luckily for me I have perfect proportions, model for Hanes, get mistaken for Brad Pitt all the time, and do not look like an intergalactic predator. Sadly for these celebs, they do look like mutants when you see side by side alien photos. Either way these idiots are rich, and I’m still wearing shirts from 10 years ago, real talk.
