Adidas is kicking off 2010 with a line up of Star Wars shoes. The shoe company teamed up with Star Wars for a memorable collection of footwear and apparel. Although the theme has been used in the world of fashion already, this new collection seamlessly fuses inspiration from legendary Star Wars characters and scenes with iconic adidas Originals silhouettes. The pieces begin to hit all adidas Originals stores and other select retailers in January 2010 while a closer look into the lineup will soon be made available. Is it even possible to not act tough when you are wearing a pair of Darth Vaders?
These amazing embryonic animal photographs of dolphins, sharks, dogs, penguins, cats and elephants are from a new National Geographic Documentary called “Extraordinary Animals in the Womb”. The show’s producer, Peter Chinn, used a combination of three-dimensional ultrasound scans, computer graphics and tiny cameras to capture the process from conception to birth. They are the most detailed embryonic animal pictures ever seen. These pictures really show the beauty of life to a certain extent, because some of those little infants look flat out scary. It would make up for a great horror movie if you woke up in the middle of the night and about 80, 1 inch slimy elephants were crawling all over you.
Of course my bet is that this is fake, but I really don’t care, it is classic. If you have ever seen a real freestyle rap battle, this is pretty much exactly how it goes down. From his homies in the background agreeing with everything he is saying, to the guy at the end of the video crying, this is awesome. Not one thing rhymed and I believe he calls himself a care bear…ganggggstaaaaaaa.
This is a bed that truly does it all. The Hi-Can Bed comes equipped with blinds that pull down to block out any additional light. It also comes with a state of the art sound system, reading lights, a built in computer, and gaming console hook ups. This is all connected to a sliding down projector screen that pulls down from the top, and latches to the foot of the bed. The bed also comes in with a built in home automation system, allowing you to speak your commands to adjust the blinds, volume controls, bed movements etc. The overall architecture of the bed is also able to be customized. This is one of those bed everyone dreams of, and I don’t see anything wrong with this product besides the price tag, which I don’t know, but I’m sure it’s not cheap.
person 1: “Hey wanna watch a movie at my house”
person 2: “Sure”
*gets to house*
person 1: “So here we are”
person 2: “It’s really nice but I don’t see any tv’s, and why are we in your bedroom?”
person 1: “Why don’t you just lay down in there and I’ll show you *wink*.”
For those of you who dont know, there is a great tee shirt site, Threadless, which specializes in allowing illustrators to submit their designs, with the winner getting their creation pressed on a tee and sold on the site. This is a very cool feature and great exposure for any artist, and it gives the consumer a chance to pick from the work of hundreds of different creatives. The site also serves as a great way to come across new artists personal work, which is how I came to know Aled Lewis.
Every now and then when someone, or something, gives to you, you feel the need to give back. This was the case for Denver-based artist Dan “DUNN” Ericson a.k.a. the Signtologist. Ericson was raised and influenced heavily by music growing up, especially hip-hop. Ericson bases all his art on recreating famous musicians as well as other famous icons. The difference between the Signtologist and the regular artist is that he uses old street signs as his canvas.
Over the past 10 years an undeniable bond has emerged between hip hop and freestyle snowboarding and skiing. From dominating the soundtracks on shred flicks to the park rat saggin his draws so low you wonder how he actually rides, hip hop is everywhere is snowboarding. No where is the bond more visible than on the Jersey shred scene. This past weekend our boys at BrakeFast Records told us they were heading up to Mountain Creek, NJ for 3rdRailJam.com, an event that could really harness the connection. A rail contest, graffiti, freestyle battle, b-boys and girls breaking moves and an after party headlined by The Ruler himself , Slick Rick. We had to go.
We showed up just in time to catch the finals of the Rail Jam and watch A-Class from Brakefast Records take the battle and win the right to open up for Slick Rick at the after party. The energy at the after party was contagious, the DJ kept it old school and as the next song would spin the crowd would let out a collective “ooooohhhhhhhhhh” and hands would fly as a favorite hip hop track from their pasts kept them fired up. Circles opened up into break battles. There was an unexpected but awsome appreciation for the history of hip hop in the room. A-class’s stand offish style brought a good contrast to the crowd and soon heads were standing militant, bobbing their heads, with hands in the air, the collective defiance that is hip hop. As we waited for The Ruler I think we were all asking ourselves if he still had it or was he just some over the hill icon showing up for a paycheck.
Google’s Autocomplete service provides a list of possible suggestions from previous searches when you start typing words into the search box. It usually works out just fine, but other times you can get some pretty ridiculous suggestions. Here are 13 examples of what we are talking about.
The above picture, is the 1994 Pulitzer prize winning photograph during the Sudan famine. The picture shows a famine stricken child crawling towards a United Nations food camp, located a kilometer away. The girl had stopped to rest while struggling to reach the refugee camp, nearby a vulture is waiting for her to die. It is a horrific picture that gave people a true look at the dire condition in Sub-Saharan Africa. Kevin then came under a lot of scrutiny for spending over 20 minutes setting up the photo instead of helping the child. No one knows what happened to the girl as Kevin left after he took the picture. Three months after taking the photo, he committed suicide. To read more about the whole story check it out here.
I know I know.. making fun of people isn’t nice. Some people cannot help the way they look, where they are from, or their health awareness. But others do have a choice. They choose to expose themselves to the public’s eye and cameras to display some pretty poor choices. Fortunately, there is a common meeting/breeding ground for many of these individuals in a little haven called Walmart Stores. Walmart has swindled its way into most everyones backyard, so there is no need to go far to find these individuals. Here are some of my personal favs….
I find no excuse for paying top dollar to have the Budweiser symbol and the words “Balderas” tattoed into the back of your head. This was personal choice.. not a very good one.
