2009-2010 Shred Flicks.

29 Dec 2009, written by 0 Comments

Each year I like to pick up a couple new shred flicks.   They never fail to get you stoked up for the season or for the next day the night of a big storm.  Every year  I have to check out a bunch of reviews cause who wants to waste money on a shitty movie.  I figured putting all the teasers together for this years major films might be helpful.  Going off teasers alone F.O.D.T’s “Hard to Earn” and Think Thanks “Cool Story” are gonna be my pick ups.  These films are about progressive fun shredding, low budgets and goodtimes.  All the best things about riding.  Absinthe Films “NeverLand” is this years major big budget shred flick, lots of big cinema heli shots, remote locations, big names like Travis Rice and the sounds already are good.  ”Thats It That’s All” by Absinthe was the most major film of last year and some populus might say the best ever made.  Either way this years line up of major sponsored shred flicks offer something for everyone’s taste.  Take your pick.

Blakroc Album Review By Cory Sims

29 Dec 2009, written by Revelation 0 Comments

corysimsI’ve been a fan of the Black Keys for a while now. If you’re not familiar with them, they are a young duo from Ohio with a raw blues/rock sound. I suggest picking up their album “Rubber Factory” off Epitaph Records. The Black Keys recently toe-dipped into hip-hop by having Danger Mouse produce their last album “Attack and Release” (Nonesuch Records). Their simplistic song structure, minimalist approach, and round soulful sound, creates a blank wall for MC’s to tag all over.

Blakroc which dropped on Black Friday, 11/28/09, marks the duo’s seventh studio release. Damon Dash of Roc-a-Fella Records produced it with the Black Keys. This album hosts an ensemble of random MCs that defy the typical cliché, run-of-the-mill rock/rap tracks that you might have heard in the past. More notable MCs include Mos Def, Q-tip, Ludacris, RZA, and Pharoahe Monch, whom add credibility to any hip-hop album

Banned3: Colt Fake

29 Dec 2009, written by Riz 0 Comments

I caught this video on a blog I sometimes check out, Death Spray Custom. He found it on another blog (damn, a lot of blog jacking going on here) under the title, This is Why Fixed Gear Bikes Are Gay and Lame and I really do have to agree. Seeing this video makes you just wanna go out and rage. Colt Fake is a complete animal. He just gets beat up and down but never quits, and eventually lands everything he sets out to do. This is a sick video, and I especially like the part towards the end when he is transfering the roofs of peoples houses. WOW.

Revelation’s Crib Of The Week: Spetses House

29 Dec 2009, written by Revelation 2 Comments

Located in Spetses Island, Greece, this post modernist residence features clean lines and serenity based concepts. Designed by Divercity which was found by Nikolas Travasaros and Demetra Karabelia back in 2004 in Athens. Today Divercity practices has offices in London and Athens.
The house features a contrast of blending with the surroundings, yet when looking at it from the water it sticks out as its own form, playing off the greenery its nestled in. The main feature of the house is the infinity pool in the rear that so perfectly appears to die right into the ocean and sky. This house is still getting the final touches put on it and is up for sale, go buy it, I’m sure it’s really cheap.

Inflatable Street Art

28 Dec 2009, written by Revelation 0 Comments

What better place than the streets of New York City to try and spook the seen-it-all pedestrians into experiencing a new form of street art? Joshua Allen Harris is an artist who has found a way to work with urban conditions, take advantage of cheap materials and exploit available situations to make ingenious head-turning works of art. In some cases, he manipulates the surroundings of a work to play with site and illusion – like splicing a segmented dragon form so it appears to be diving in and out of the metal grates on which it sits, or facing off two monsters that – as air movement varies from place to place – seem to be gaining or losing ground.

Cop Out Trailer from Kevin Smith

28 Dec 2009, written by Riz 0 Comments

So over the holiday weekend the new Kevin Smith trailer, Cop Out, hit the internet. Two longtime NYPD partners on the trail of a stolen, rare, mint-condition baseball card find themselves up against a merciless, memorabilia-obsessed gangster. Jimmy (Bruce Willis) is the veteran detective whose missing collectible is his only hope to pay for his daughter’s upcoming wedding, and Paul (Tracy Morgan) is his “partner-against-crime” whose preoccupation with his wife’s alleged infidelity makes it hard for him to keep his eye on the ball. In my opinion, Kevin Smith has been on a bit of a dry spell his last couple of movies, but this trailer really has me excited. Tracy Morgan is one of my favorite comedians so I have to have faith in the fact that hes gonna kill it.

Extreme Sledding Looks Fun

28 Dec 2009, written by Revelation 0 Comments

Extreme sledding is kind of like isolating the part of snowboarding where you fall on your ass and making a sport out of it. It has all the trappings of snowboarding or skiing – hills, cliffs, jumps and tricks – but with pretty much none of the finesse. Still, it looks like a heck of a lot of fun, don’t you think?

XARM: Next Generation In Combat Sports

25 Dec 2009, written by Revelation 0 Comments

Now I know we just featured Japanese fluorescent lamp wrestling as being one of the dumbest sports in the world, but wow were we wrong. From the UFC creator Art Davie, behold the craziest, brutal, and ridiculous combat sport in the world, until we find something even dumber. In a nutshell, XARM is the lovechild of mixed martial arts and arm wrestling, where “two athletes are linked together in a combat zone.” Points are scored by landing punches and kicks, and by pinning an opponent; players can also win by knockout. If your having trouble picturing what we are talking about, think Rock’em Sock’em Robots with real people. If your mentally ready to sit in amazement of how crazy this sport is watch the video posted below.

Jersey Shore, Behind the Scenes

23 Dec 2009, written by Riz 3 Comments

Being from New Jersey, I had a front row seat to the outrage that was caused with the debute of the show Jersey Shore on MTV. The show takes 7 cast members and, wait, if you dont know what Jersey Shore is, you must reside under a rock, these clowns have been EVERYWHERE, including Jay Leno last week. This video was posted on Funny or Die, and I have to admit, it had me rolling on the floor. The Situation is actually pretty funny on and off the show, and the other cast members are at least aware of the fact that their behavior is pretty much out of hand. They did a good job on Leno last week playing up the fact that they are mindless idiots, and in this clip, they show their “true” sides. Check it out.

“If anyone out there is out of work, and hate’n is your profession, I have a full time job for ya!”

Ken Block Does it Again with GYMKHANA REMIX

23 Dec 2009, written by Riz 0 Comments

We have posted all of Ken Blocks GYMKHANA videos here, which have become instant internet sensations, but I have a feeling this one is going to take the cake. There is some serious acid like behavior going on in this video, and if you know anything about us here at Zoot, thats the kind of shit we are into. Ken Block, for those of you who dont know, is the owner of DC, and a rally car driver for Subaru. He has taken his love of cars and art to an entire new level with his drift videos that have been viral for about a year or so. Check out this remix, but not before eat the magic mushrooms and chase Alice down the Rabbit hole.
