Since today is Groundhog’s Day, aka the most ridiculous “holiday” we actually observe,I mean seriously let’s all gather around an animal’s hole in the dirt, and if he doesn’t come out we are going to get hit by a cold winter, yea that’s sane thinking. So why not hit you off with some fun facts from the movie, “Groundhog’s Day”.
2. Director Harold Ramis originally wanted Tom Hanks for the lead role, but decided against it, saying that Hanks was “too nice.”

You’ve heard it before: Ruckus Juice, Mule Kick, Hillbilly Pop, Mountain Dew — the nicknames for moonshine, an often misunderstood spirit of Appalachian heritage. But just like your personal tastes, moonshine has also done its fair share of growing up, thanks to modern craft distillers. Now, the high-proof corn whiskey is not only legally available, but delicious to boot. And yes, it still packs a mighty wallop. Take Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine ($25+) for instance. The family company, based in Gatlinburg, TN follows centuries old secret recipes to create a superior moonshine using local ingredients from East Tennessee farms. Their 100 proof shine is even available with batch soaked cherries and sold in mason jars. Yee-haw, indeed. You can buy it here for just $25.
Did you know that Ireland is not a part of Great Britain? It isn’t. Well, Northern Ireland is but Ireland is not—though it is part of the United Kingdom. Oh, you didn’t know there were two Irelands? Then you need to watch this entertaining video which explains all that and much, much more. Trust us it is a lot more entertaining than one would think.
Being involved with architecture makes me appreciate building in the old days. There was no modern day machinery to do the work for you, if you wanted a bolt or a screw tightened, you did it yourself with a wrench. Looking at these vintage pictures of the building of the Empire State Building are really remarkable. Plus add the fact that I would literally shit my pants if I was sitting on an I-beam 80 stories in the air. These guys look so relaxed doing it like it’s no big deal. Here is a large collection of these guys constructing the Empire State Building piece by piece.
Check below for more insane photographs of the remarkable construction.
Lupe uses the exact same hook singer/production combo as Dre and Em’s ‘I Need a Doctor’. Lupe’s ‘Lasers’ is due out in March and this is the second single released, following the first song “The Show Goes On” with the Modest Mouse Float On sample. Damn I am excited for this album.
You can get this on a sweet shirt over at the website found here. Just $20
The men’s Super Pipe final is the clear featured event every year at the X Games. In case you missed the finals this past weekend here are the highlights. Shaun White took the gold again, his fourth straight in the event. Louie Vito’s run looked gold worthy but no one can ever seem to match how clean White’s runs are. He lands high on the wall and sticks everything with no shaky transitions. Still clear ahead of the competition, hate on the ginger kid all you want but you got to respect his moves.
TwisterNederland is back with his latest montage of all things awful from around the Intertubes this past month. It pains us to watch this, but not as much as it must have hurt the people in the video.
The finest sports figures from film and television offer up words of encouragement to get you back out on that field in fighting form. The best part might be the brief cameo of Lattimer from the Program. Starting defense! Place at the table! [smashes head through car window]
Here’s some new music from The Lonely Island featuring Nicki Minaj. John Waters also makes a cameo which is solid.
