This fresh trailer for Magnolia’s Jiro Dreams of Sushi is full of mouthwatering, artistic food close ups that suddenly made me change my lunch plans to the closest sushi restaurant.
Amazingly, the best sushi in all of Japan is at a small sushi bar inside a Tokyo subway station. Documentarian David Gelb follows the story of stalwart Sukiyabashi Jiro, renowned as the world’s best sushi chef, who, as the title suggests, dreams of even grander sushi. He is aiming for the top, but acknowledges that no one knows exactly where that is. Thats the attitude of a great man, and a driven professional.
The film is due for a limited release on March 9th.
UK photographer Rob Whitworth has achieved time-lapse supremacy by comprising 10,000 photos of Ho Chi Minh City (ex-Saigon), Vietnam and it’s frantic residents. I was seriously fixated on watching them swirl through the intersections. This is a new level of traffic. I thought riding my bike through SoHo was bad, but this is amazing.
Spoiler Alert! If you havent seen Drive, then this might not be the best video for you, YET! Artists Tom Haugomat and Bruno Mangyoku made this minimalist video, complete with Ryan Gosling’s bloody scorpion jacket which is really a lot more enjoyable when it springs out at you through the course of the moody, sleek, well-tempered film.
This is just about the coolest things Ive ever seen.
Back in July, acrobat and aerial silk artist Seanna Sharpe climbed way up on the Williamsburg Bridge and performed a death-defying act to delight of the curious crowds who gathered below. I actually saw some footage of this when it went down, and kind of didnt really understand the awesomeness of it until now. This video really does justice to the high flying theatrics.
Slaughterhouse, Em, and Yela. The best part of this cypher is seeing Joell laughing during everyone rhymes. He understands what he is part of, and how special this group of artists are to hip hop.
There is nothing like some solid new tunes to get you through the day. Im particularly feeling this new Bernhoft joint. His voice reminds me of Musiq Soulchild
