We all do it. We walk out of a store, stare up at the logo, and think to ourselves “F this place, what they should really be calling themselves is McDiabetes. I feel like shit!” A companies logo really is how they are perceived by the general public, and if they arent careful, Viktor Hertz will call you out and let you know how people really view you and your damn logo. All of these are pretty spot on, and I agree with all of these altercations except the Ferrari one. I dont care how big or small people thought my unit was. If I had the means, I would most certainly buy a Ferrari, take it onto the Turnpike in the middle of the night, and go out in a blaze of glory while doing 200 miles per. Real talk.

This is one of the most extreme residential sites I have seen, hands down. Sadly there is no images of the actual house inside yet, but these aerial pictures of the site is truly remarkable. It’s owned by architect Charles Sieger (of Sieger Suarez), who has designed over $10 billion in real estate properties. Yes there is a working moat with a fully functional bridge, to keep zombies out of course. I have also included a video to Birdman’s music video Fire Flame, why? Because the opening scene is a walk through the main doors and over the moat into the house you see here, sweeeeeeeeeeeeet, fire flame SPITTAAAAA.

Ian Albinson’s brief history of title design for “Title Design Finalists Screening”, a SXSW event that happens tonight in Austin at the Vimeo theater in the convention center.

He did a little bit of research on mental health disorders and came across a few to visualize in a minimalist sort of way. Here they are, I am sure a few loony toons with these problems will really get a kick out of them.

Books are usually made for reading, yea I know crazy right. When a book isn’t used for ready sometimes we get creative and use them for a door stop, maybe a pillow to take a nap, or something for simple and boring. Well here is another use of books that is a little bit more creative and definitely a lot more pleasing to the eye. Here are some incredible book sculptures.

I should just start naming crib of the week, Guz architecture residence of the week, because this is the third time I have picked a house from the amazing architecture firm based out of Singapore. This week we are gong to dive into the Cluny house, bringing the rainforest into your home (click images to enlarge to really see the detail of the residence.). Description from Guz Architects:

The project demonstrates how technology, planning and design can be applied sensitively to generate a comfortable, luxurious, yet sustainable family home.

Photovoltaic cells and solar water heaters are employed together with design for passive cooling and cross ventilation to reduce energy usage. Irrigation tanks and roof gardens collect and recycle rainwater; and the use of materials such as recycled teak and artificial timber adds warmth without compromising the finite resources of our environment.

The house is laid out around a central water court that forms the focal point of the project. Lushly planted roof gardens surround this and add to the effect that nature is evident in every part of the house.

Although the house is high tech – using state of the art EIB systems, photovoltaic cells, security systems – these are integrated discreetly and work with the natural environment of the house rather than against it.

This integration of technology and nature deserves special mention in a compelling design that could realistically become the model for sustainable living.

Two things we love here at Zoot is art and hip-hop. So when the two come together in any shape or form, it is usually a big hit with us, and I think Patrick Moberg nailed it with his Animal Pharm illustration series. In our language, one letter can really make a difference. Moberg decided to implement this statement, by changing one, sometimes a few, letters in rappers names to transform them into animals. Sounds weird and I guess it is, but the results are pretty rad for sure. Piggie smalls in the buildinggggggg. You can check Patrick Moberg’s website out for more of his work found here.

Talk about a green building. The Meera house, design by Guz Architects, portrays an image of rolling greens and blue waters inside and out. Not only is this house remarkable aesthetically to the eye, but it is also environmentally pleasing to the Earth, due to the green architecture incorporated. Of course the design is great and all that but how many people have had the fantasy of being at a party and there is human mermaids swimming behind a glass wall, well this house has that.
