After a rough leak months ago, Kanye West’s official video for his single, “Monster,” has finally hit the web for real, and for better or worse, it was certainly worth the wait to see.
Yeezy is joined by his partner in crime and big brother, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, and the ohhhh so fine Nicki Minaj in a spooky, off-the-wall and semi-graphic video that, by its own admission, touches on the racy and controversial.
With an introductory disclaimer that reads, “The following content is in no way to be interpreted as misogynistic or negative towards any groups of people. It is an art piece and it shall be taken as such,” the video launches into women hanging by nooses, Kanye setting up a threesome with corpses, Jay-Z raps over dead women and evil Nicki Minaj busts out the S&M gear to torture her good self. Seriously. Nicki Minaj give HERSELF a lapdance. This cant get any better.
I’ve been pretty into dubstep for a while now and rusko’s song hold on was one of the first songs I heard, so it is not new by any means. But when you mash it up with one of jay-z’s great verses it reemerges as a great tune call Hov Holds On, hollaaaaaaaa.
While it is a fact that Eminem has nothing to do with this mixtape being released, it is definitely worth posting for everyone’s enjoyment. The mixtape composed of 9 songs has some really old stuff, like Emulate with Obie, but it also has some unreleased tracks I am guessing are from the Relapse time, were released by Studioleaks.com. The CD has a horrible DJ on it who does a pretty bad job mixing the songs together but it is what it is. For the most part it is Eminem just spitting hard on some tracks, so take it for what it’s worth. My favorite song would probably be G.O.A.T.,
“So when Weezy says that he’s better than Jay-z
Please, be that just subliminally
Means he thinks Jigga’s the best and that he’s
The only one up in that league, see
And it’s easy just to consider me one of the greatest white rappers there is
Knowing god damn well that I’m one of the best motherfucking rappers who ever lived period.”
Here is the first single “H.A.M.” off the anticipated collaboration CD from Kanye and Jay-Z called “Watch the Throne”. Hopefully this superstar collabo goes better for Jay-Z than that terrible Best of Both Worlds CD with R. Kelly.
This dropped a few days ago but I couldnt find a good enough quality video to share with ZootNation. This is a pretty solid line up and an even better topic that they all are rhyming on. Its nice to see a group of rappers finally acknowledging the fact no one is into lyrics any more and all kids now a days care about is a hot beat. Its kind of funny that 50 is on this song since thats pretty much how he gets fans and sells records. Finally Jay Z can say he redeemed himself a little bit since he got ‘murdered on his own shit’ by Eminem on Renegade. He actually lays it down pretty nice on this track. Enjoy before its pulled!
Featuring one of Andy Warhol’s Rorschach paintings on the cover, Hov’s first book takes an intimate look at 36 songs from his deep-ass catalog by providing insight from the man himself into some of his more provocative and memorable lyrics. He says:
When I first started working on this book, I told my editor that I wanted it to do three important things. The first was to make the case that hip-hop lyrics—not just my lyrics, but those of every great MC—are poetry if you look at them closely enough. The second was I wanted the book to tell a little bit of the story of my generation, to show the context for the choices we made at a violent and chaotic crossroads in recent history. And the third piece was that I wanted the book to show how hip-hop created a way to take a very specific and powerful experience and turn it into a story that everyone in the world could feel and relate to.
Here he is speaking on his recently released “Most Kings”
“Do not think that I don’t know where I’m at right now. I’m also honored to be on this fuckin’ stage in the Bronx, the fuckin’ birthplace of Hip Hop.”- Eminem
Last night marked the first of Eminem and Jay-Z’s two sold-out performances at Yankees Stadium in the Bronx. Th performance was a star-studded event that found Hip Hop’s two reigning titans sharing the stage with a plethora of guest artists and zootpatrol was there first hand. I know everyone is hearing how incredible the show was but it truly was a once in a life time event that I am so happy I got to attend. I am not going to bore you with a play by play review because everything I write will end with me just saying how awesome it was.
Highlights for me though was when Dr. Dre came out as well as 50 Cent during Em’s performance. Chris Martin from Coldplay coming out during Jay-z’s set was also a highlight as well as Beyonce doing a song with Hov with jay remarking “Damn that girl is baaaaad.” when she left the stage. I really liked how Jay-Z paid homage to Notorious BIG in a giant way, playing a few Biggie songs before playing a clip of an old interview on Big explaining performing in front of 30,000 people on the big screen, it was a nice touch. From beginning to end it was just unbelievable leaving me getting excited just thinking back on the night. If anyone reads this and does not have tickets for tonight, do yourself a favor and just go to the stadium and scalp them, sell your body if you need to, it’s worth it.
Highlights of this video:
1. How awesome is 50 Cents glow in the dark gear.
2. Dr. Dre telling us he isn’t going to let us down with Detox gave me chills, he is going in HARDDDD.
3. Yankee Stadium looked unreal last night with the sold out crowd bouncing the whole time.
4. Loved how Eminem didn’t have Drake come on stage to do the chorus of Forever live, that talentless ass bag doesn’t deserve to be on the same stage.
Beyonce definitely winked, smiled, and asked me to have sex with her back stage after the show. Unfortunately security didn’t believe me and they wouldn’t let me through, freakin cock blockers.
Like many I am a rap fan, or hip-hop, whatever you want to call it. I think everyone knows by now that rap has become accepted in the music industry and is bigger then rock and roll in some peoples eyes. The thing I have against rap these days is there is a bunch of no talent idiots who tend to just rap about cars, women, and money, hell I could make a list of ridiculous Lil Wayne lyrics that will have you laughing your ass off (I’ll make a post on that topic soon). But below are some very highly respected, and rich rappers in the game today, that still say some awkward and terrible lines from time to time, here are 10 that come to mind.
Jay-Z – $63 Million
Diddy – $30 Million
Well, that really didnt take too long did it? Nets part owner Jay Z and Russian bagillionare Mikhail Prokhorov really want NYC fans to know that the Knicks are no longer the only act in town. The NETS will be in Brooklyn officially, and they are ready to make some noise. Step 1, hang a giant billboard across from The Garden mocking the Knicks, Step 2, let Jay Z sweet talk Lebron into coming to Brooklyn.
If you’re anywhere near Madison Square Garden, take a look at the building on 34th and 8th and you will see most of Mikhail Prokhorov’s face and by the end of today, Jay-Z’s face will be complete. Today is the start of the free-agent negotiation period and this mural couldnt have been placed at a better time. The Knicks owner James Dolan didnt take kindly to the 225-x-95-foot mural featuring Prokhorov and Jay-Z standing next to each other with “The Blueprint For Greatness” and a Nets logo on it. He called the league, and he also gave Hove a call. Im sure that conversation went real well.
Dolan: Umm, Hi. Sean Carter.. I mean, Jay.. Mr. Z. I dont really like that mural you hung outside my building.
Jay Z: ALLOW ME TO REINTRODUCE MYSELF. MY NAME IS HOVE!!!
Jay Z: ASK ABOUT ME, NIGGA ASK A BOUT ME!!!
Dolan: Ask who?
Jay Z: ITS YA BOYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!
One statement certainly seems to be that the Nets wanted the Knicks to know they plan to be winners in free agency if not rule the big city. Remember what Prokhorov said last month:
“I have only one secret. We’re going to turn Knicks fans into Nets fans. It’s a part of success.”
Dr. Dre’s Under Pressure got leaked today, but it is an unfinished and old version. The track has no hook in it, it’s unmixed and unmastered. The word is, that Under Pressure is off Detox. Although it’s not done we are loving how it is looking so far, something to just wet our whistles until the CD actually comes out sometime in 2028. “I want to set the record straight for everybody who’s been waiting to hear my music. The song that’s on the internet is an incomplete song that I’m still working on. When its ready, you’ll be hearing it from me.” – Dr. Dre
