Mt Baker Road Gap, A Snowboarding Icon
05 Jan 2011, written by ZootPatrol.com 0 CommentsI’ve never been to Mt. Baker, Washington but as a snowboarder I’ve seen countless photos and footage of the infamous Mt. Baker road gap. It’s a right of passage for any pro snowboarder and they come from around the world to hit it. The line into the gap runs through the woods and the lip of the kicker is some 40ft above the road and has reached as high as 60ft with snow. The first person to hit the gap was snowboard legend Shawn Farmer doing a shirtless method air in the original Totally Board video in 1989. Here are some photos from the legendary gap.
Grant Gunderson: Ski Season Photography
08 Feb 2010, written by Revelation 0 CommentsGrant Gunderson is a Mt. Baker Washington-based ski photographer. His work has appeared in magazines like Powder, Skiing, and Backcountry, and he is the photo editor of The Ski Journal. As an adrenaline junkie hooked on the great outdoors & anything with beauty & danger as bed fellows , I think this work is outrageously awesome! Love the way he has used daylight to balance flash , super strong work, and super strong photography. These photos are just the tip of the iceberg and I recommend you checking out Gunderson’s website found here for more gnarly photography.
