The Worlds Smallest Library
28 Jan 2010, written by Riz 0 CommentsWhen was the last time you really used a pay phone or went to the library? I was maybe the last one of my friends to get a cell phone, at the age of 20, so for me, its been 7 years. I would bet there are some people in this world who have never used a pay phone EVER, and to be honest, why should they? Everyone has a cell phone not to mention that pay phones are on the same level of dirtiness as a sub way car floor. Libraries are also quickly becoming a thing of the past. If you want a book, you buy it, they are like, 10 bucks. If you dont like having a million books in your apartment, you buy a Amazon Kindle. No one rents books anymore, it just seems silly. As both books and phone booths are becoming a thing of the past, a village in Somerset, England has merged the two.
The bright red old phone booth was purchased for just 1 pound and remodeled as the smallest library in the world. Residents line up to swap their already read books for new ones left by other patrons. Over 100 books and a variety of movies and music CDs are available at this tiny library.
