4 Jams You Should DL. Indie Electro Pop Edition.

08 Apr 2010, written by ZootPatrol.com 1 Comments

This edition of 4JDL focuses on the indie electronic pop genre.  No this is NOT jersey fist pumpin techno so don’t get the wrong idea.  Just a few throwback electronica esk jams that are sure to get a rise out of the next shindig you throw or to blast in your car  as you speed away from work dodging traffic on a sunny Friday heading to happy hour.  You’ll have to do some extensive searching to find Sepalot – Highway to Hell, I can’t remember how I found it because it was so long ago, but it’s sure to become a classic on your Ipod if you do. For more music news you can always check out MTV.

1. The Go! Team – LadyFlash

2. DJ Sepalot Feat Amos – Highway to Hell

4 Jams You Should DL. Indie Slow Jams Edition.

This edition of 4 JYSDL focuses on some classic indie slow jams with the exception of the Felice Brothers.  Good songs for a sunday morning cup of coffee at your digs or when your hangover can’t manage to hear anything loud and fast, which is the case for me right now.  Enjoy.

1. The Jam – That’ Entertainment

2. Bon Iver – For Emma

4 Jams You Should DownLoad. Rough, Rugged and Raw East Coast Hip Hop Edition.

There was time in east coast hip hop, just after the days of tight jeans, white Reeboks and silver boom boxes on shoulder and just before the flashiness of bad boy records, puffy and glamorous hip hop.  This is when the rough, rugged and raw side of east coast hip hop began to emerge into the spotlight.  The videos of the time consisted of harsh amplified emotion by artists who resembled street soldiers usually in dark places, looking ready for war.  Wu-Tang first emerged in this era and was able to stand the test of time, other groups like Das Efx, Heltak Skeltah and Gravediggaz fell off in the mid-late 90′s when flashy hip hop re-emerged.  This side of hip hop lives on but doesn’t get much credit because the songs certainly don’t hold up in the club ready, bling manufactured world hip hop has become.  The instinctive raw emotion of hip hop began here.

1. KRS One – Sound of Da Police

2. Run DMC – Down with the King

4 Jams You Should DownLoad.

This edition of 4 Jams You Should DL has a bit of punk/metal/garage rock theme but it’s not about that.  It’s about thrashing, but these aren’t thrasher metal jams either.  If you already have these songs, they need to go on a playlist together.  A playlist you only listen to when you want to go fast and touch on being completely wreckless.  Each song is up tempo, loud and sure to get you going.  Great jams for shredding the slopes but try not to hit the 4 year old learning to ski when your doing Mach 3 through the bunny slope.
